The Personal Information Protection Act (“the Act”) regulates the collection, use, storage, security, and disclosure of personal information by private sector organizations in British Columbia. “Personal Information” refers to information about an identifiable individual. Spraggs Group acknowledges the importance of privacy and the sensitivity of personal information received by us in the course of our services across all our companies.
We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of our clients’ information and uphold our obligations regarding the personal information of all individuals that we collect, use, or disclose throughout our family of companies. This policy has been developed with these obligations in mind.
Our Need for Personal Information: To provide effective services through Spraggs Law, Spraggs Group, and Spraggs Media Group, we require access to relevant facts and information, which may include personal information about our clients and other individuals.
Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Personal Information: We primarily collect personal information directly from the person to whom it pertains. When necessary, we may collect personal information from other sources.
By engaging any of the Spraggs Group companies for services, an individual consents to our necessary collection, use, or disclosure of their personal information to properly advise and represent them.
We collect personal information in accordance with the Act, which deems consent for collection, use, or disclosure if the purpose would be obvious to a reasonable person. In some circumstances, the Act allows us to collect, use, or disclose personal information without an individual’s consent, such as when it is in the individual’s best interests or necessary for an investigation or proceeding.
Security of Personal Information: We have measures in place to protect against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or destruction of personal information across all our business entities.
Requests for Access to Personal Information: Individuals can request access to their personal information under our control, including how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed.
Limitations on Disclosure: We do not disclose personal information where it could harm an individual’s safety or mental health, or where it would reveal personal information about another individual without consent.
Requests for Correction of Personal Information: Individuals can request corrections to their personal information in our custody or control. We will correct or annotate the information accordingly.
